Rolando Borgés Martin, Lisbon, Portugal
Rolando Borges Martin has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Parque EXPO (public company of urban renewal and planning in Portugal) since 2006. He was Executive Director of PARQUE EXPO 98 SA., being his activity centred in the start-up and national implementation of POLIS Program. M.B.A. and graduated in Business Administration, with a large experience in global management and in the commercial / marketing areas- Space Planning and events Marketing, with international dimension. He has participated, as consultant, in strategic and sectorial consulting projects (Real Estate area, urban renewal and environmental regeneration, large events) and has experience as teacher in national and international Management Schools.


Gines Garrido, Madrid, Spain
Gines Garrido is an architect and director of MRIO arquitectos asociados. He is also an Associate Professor at the Department of Architectural Design at the ETS Architecture Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and has been a Visiting Scholar at several universities (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Akademie der Bildenden Küste in Wien and Atheneum EAAL Lausane and College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at The University of Arizona). Many of his social housing projects have been awarded in Architectural Competitions and his work has also been awarded with prizes such as COAM (Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid), Single-housing Award, COAM Architecture diffusion Award or COAM Research Award.
MRÍO arquitectos asociados is an architectural and landscape firm commissioned by the city of Madrid to develop the Manzanares River Masterplan (660 Ha) and the Urbanization Design of the areas to the sides of the Manzanares River which are actually under construction.


Gert Gundersen, Bergen, Norway
Gert Atle Gundersen is a civil engineer with a Master of Science, Planning and Public Administration (Great Britain). He had worked for 10 years in the City of Bergen, Norway, in charge of housing and planning and was member of UN organizations as HUMAN (Housing and Urban Management Advisory Network). He is now a consultant on housing and property development issues in central and eastern Europe.

 

Mehron Kirk, London, United-Kingdom
Landscape architect, Mehron is a Director of BDP Landscape and an Associate Director of BDP. He worked on several projects in France which gave him a good knowledge of the French urban project management (he worked in EPAD- La Défense- and EPA Cergy-Pontoise–Public corporation of town planning). He works on public space master plans, landscape and urban design strategies, new mix used development…

 

Juliette van der Meijden, The Hague, The Nederlands
Juliette van der Meijden is a registered Urban Designer (The Netherlands) and principal of Urban Visions, a practice committed to strategic thinking involved in producing innovative solutions critical to successful and sustainable urban plans. Prior to the Netherlands, she attained the title of Architect in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), where she worked with the well-known Architectural office of Paulo Casé and Luiz Accioli where, she worked on a variety of projects such as housing, commercial buildings, and Master Plans for urban areas and resorts in Brazil and abroad. Besides her activities and background in urban design Juliette van der Meijden held until recently, the position of co-developer and coordinator of “Stadslab European Urban Design Laboratory”, a project where professionals and academia meet to exchange knowledge and know-how. The design method Juliette van der Meijden has developed for Stadslab can be entitled “Inquiry Based Design”. Furthermore, she was for many years coordinator for the Master of Urbanism at Fontys Academy in Tilburg. Juliette van der Meijden writes and lectures on matters of urban transformation and maintains links with universities and research institutions in Europe and abroad.

 

Denis Myles, Belfast, United Kingdom
Denis Myles is a chartered surveyor. He ran his own firm of Private Practice Surveyor, Estate Agent and Consultant from 1987 to 2008, and was Senior Economic Development Consultant at the International Fund for Ireland from 1987 to 1997. He developed during his professional activities urban strategic land valuation, and urban regeneration skills.


Joan Antoni Solans Huguet, Barcelona, Spain
Catalan architect, Joan Antoni Solans Huguet did the 1976 General urban Plan for the metropolitan area of Barcelona. He was the Head of the urban planning department of Barcelona City from 1977 to 1980 and then Head of urban planning of the Cataluña Region (Generalitat Cataluña), 1980-2000. He is now teaching at the Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and he is a member of the Catalan Studies Institute.

Antonio Vélez Catrain, Madrid, Spain
Antonio Velez Catrain is architect, director of his own firm created in 1995. He also teaches at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Madrid. From 2000 to 2004, he was the representative of the EUROPAN Spanish National Comitee. He completed building works, as well as urban regeneration and planning projects . Being advisor for the City Council of Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), he organised the programme “Ideas Urbanas para Santo Domingo 2002”.


Olavi Veltheim, Helsinki, Finland
Olavi Veltheim is architect and has been leading the Master Plan in the Planning Department of the Helsinki City. During 15 years, he was regional architect and after leading the Regional Planning Department of the Uusimaa Regional Council (Helsinki Region). Working on local and European projects (INTERREG) he developed professional skills in strategic spatial planning, urban design and planning and project management.

Michel Sudarskis, The Hague, The Netherlands
Michel Sudarskis is the Secretary General of INTA since 1987. He holds a PhD in Economics and Political Sciences. Before joining INTA he taught on international co-operation and foreign affairs as Associate Professor with several Universities (Strasbourg, Paris, Nice and Lille) and served with international organisations in Italy and Belgium. Michel Sudarskis writes and speaks regularly on urban issues.
