fb eng 5The Metropolitan Day Campaign is a global campaign that brings mayors of metropolitan areas together to discuss the challenges of their city. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of improving metropolitan governance processes, as well as connecting cities and partners. Participating cities must hold their metropolitan day between the 1st and 7th of October 2018, and are supported by volunteer partners.

These partners are institutions in the academic sector, civil society companies, multilateral organizations, city networks or public and private institutions, which are involved for the development of the best models of metropolitan governance. They have to collaborate with the participating cities for the preparation and during the event, and after, to share the results of the event.

The mayors of the metropolitan areas of each city discuss topics related to the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, particularly with regard to current issues - global warming, socio-economic inequalities, technological innovations... local actions can not be enough and it is necessary to develop territorial policies at the metropolitan level. The campaign therefore focus on a collaborative and integrated approach between the different sectors involved in urban design, as well as on exchanges between the different actors of urban development to deliver solutions for the city construction.
