Barth describes several projects that are relevant to Nangang, looking particularly at the way these projects harness the potential that comes with the investment of companies to turn abandoned areas into productive territories. The projects reveal different ways to intensify industrial districts rather than isolating industry from higher value components of the knowledge economy, as typically happens when a new technology park is designed. The different projects are examples of how design can be used to help develop a stakeholder base and mechanisms for delivering cross-overs between technological and creative industries.
