Welcome to the Lab – Helle Juul, President of INTA & Founding Partner, JUULFROST Architects
Helle Juul, president of INTA opened our congress 2025 by framing Health, Cities and Urban Development as a long-term INTA initiative extending into 2026.
Founded in 1974, INTA unites members from over 60 countries in a peer-to-peer network focused on practical urban transformation.
She outlined how biodiversity, mobility, climate change, and demographic shifts intersect with urban health. She called for a movement beyond conversation toward actionable outcomes, with each participant proposing a tangible intervention.
The congress’ structure—Cities for Health, People for Health, Nature for Health—reflects a belief in the interdependence of social and ecological systems. Addressing issues such as loneliness, obesity, and mental well-being, she positioned design as an instrument of cultural and biological balance.
Her office’s interdisciplinary practice, bridging research, landscape, and architecture, mirrors INTA’s global mission. The opening set the tone for a congress committed to experimentation, collaboration, and measurable impact. Urban health, in this framing, is not an isolated theme but the very foundation of resilient city-making.
