Mr. Donald Van Dansik

Donald van Dansik, Architect & planner, The Hague, Netherlands

Donald van Dansik graduated as architect/engineer and urban designer at the faculty of Architecture of the Delft University. In 1989 he was invited by Rem Koolhaas/OMA to be the lead architect of the Euralille project (350.000 m2, including a 10ha park, high speed train station and extensive mixed program city centre, design-construct in 5 years). Later projects with OMA include the Hanoi New Town, the Inchon New Town, restructuring of Orchard Road. Currently Donald van Dansik is an independent consultant, teaches at the faculty of architecture of the University of Eindhoven and directs a think tank for an association of the bigger cities in the west of Holland, the aim is to realise the Delta Metropolis. Members of the association include public authorities below the National level and NGO’s. Given the emergence of the European Union, the prime economical unities are the regions. Delta metropolis is the core area of Holland, projects include recreational landscape and water management, transportation and housing; the content of the projects is directly related to new concepts of governance, in the face of global competitiveness
