Mr. Pedro Ortiz Castaño

Pedro Ortiz Castaño is currently Senior Urban Planner, Washington, DC. He was deputy director of the Council of Architects of madrid. He was director of the Insitutte for Urban Renewal, a joint venture between the public and private sector in Madrid. He is as well Director of the Master on Town Planning of the University King Juan Carlos of Madrid, and a Partner of the Planning Consultancy firm of Arop&As. Counselor to the Regional Governments of Navarra and Murcia, as well as to several engineering and development companies as Intevia, SA, Institute of Transport Engineering and Roads, the Centro Superior de Arquitectura, Camuñas Foundation. Member of the expert committee of the Madrid Nuevo Siglo Foundation, involved in the planning of the Madrid Olympic bid for 2012. Pedro was former Major for Madrid’s Central District (Distrito de Salamanca) (1989-1991). Member of the Madrid’s City Council (1987-1995). Responsible for Urban Prospective (1993-1995) and for Culture (1991-1993). Director of the Strategic Plan for Madrid (1991-1994). Pedro has been as well Director General for Town and Regional Planning on the Government of Madrid Region, and as such author of the Regional Development Plan of Madrid of 1996 and the Land Planning Law of 1997.

Pedro Ortiz Castaño est senior urbaniste auprès de la Banque mondiale à Washington, DC. Il a été directeur adjoint du Conseil des Architectes de Madrid et directeur de l'Institut de Renouvellement Urbain à Madrid, projet partenarial secteur public et privé. Il dirige le Master d'aménagement de l'Université Juan Carlos de Madrid, et est partenaire du cabinet Arup&As. Pedro est également conseiller en aménagement des gouvernements régionaux de Navarre et de Murcie, et de plusieurs institutions ou sociétés : Intevia, SA, Institute of Transport Engineering and Roads, Centro Superior de Arquitectura, Camuñas Foundation. Pedro Ortiz est membre du comité d'experts de la Fondation Madrid Nuevo Siglo qui a préparé la candidature de Madrid aux Jeux Olympiques de 2012. Pedro est ancien maire du quartier de Madrid centre (Distrito de Salamanca), conseiller municipal Madrid, responsable de la prospective urbaine et de la culture. Directeur du plan stratégique de Madrid, Pedro a été directeur général de l'aménagement du Conseil régional de Madrid et à ce titre auteur du plan régional de développement de 1996 et des lois foncières de 1997.
