Mr. Michael Gahagan

Michael Gahagan is currently chair of the Centre of Refurbishment Excellence, a national body in Stoke-on-Trent devoted to  refurbishing the housing and other stock in the UK to the highest environmental and energy efficient standards. He is also chair of the Paradigm Foundation, the charitable arm of a Housing Association. Michael joined the Civil Service from a firm of Chartered Surveyors in Manchester and subsequently became Director of Regeneration for the Government responsible for, amongst other things, Urban Development Corporations, Enterprise Zones, City Challenge and the Single Regeneration Budget in England. He was then Director of Housing responsible for implementing significant changes to national housing policy in England. Since his retirement in 2003, and before taking up his current posts, Michael chaired a major regeneration scheme in South Yorkshire, the Doncaster Housing Improvement Board and part of the Paradigm Housing Group, with about 12,000 homes in the south of England.

Michael was invested as a Companion of the Order of the Bath ( CB ) by Her Majesty the Queen in October 2000.
